David's unique birth~`Article in the Kenosha News

David's baby story...written by David in 5th grade (all truth here!)

1990
David was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on May 27, 1990. He was the second of three sons. He was born at home, with the assistance of 2 midwives, his grandmother, and his Aunt Shelley. He weighed 7 lb 4 oz, and was born about 4 weeks prematurely, but was very healthy. The photograph offered here is when Nic woke from his nap, and found that he had a brand new one hour old brother.

1990 to 1993
David was a very active and very happy baby and little boy. He hardly cried, even when he got his immunizations. He would just suck on his pacifier a little quicker. He was born just 20 months after his brother Nic, and those 2 were thick as thieves. As much as David looked up to Nic, and looked out for Nic, he was also his own person right from the get go. See, Nic has this way of getting others to follow him, a natural leader. David didn't play that, and had no reason to. While they were young, the 2 brothers did everything together, and I mean everything. They slept together, ate together, played together, bathed together, fought together. They were tight from the start, developed the strongest of bond, and wherever one was, the other would be....looking out for the other. They looked so much alike that they were so often assumed to be twins, even though their physical size was different. There was no denying that they were brothers.

January or so, 1991

The two of them watching a video with a bunch of kids singing. This would always captivate them, no matter what they were doing. David, especially loved songs from the beginning. He even liked for me to sing to him. When he was little, some of his favorite songs were "Once there was a little old ant" and "Down in the meadow".

David was the most active and physically gifted persons I have ever known. Like I mentioned in his obituary, he was climbing out of his crib by 4 months, walking by 8 months, and riding a 2 wheeler bike at age 2. He was so small that his feet wouldn't touch the ground, so he would ride as fast as he could, then jump off to grab ahold of a chain link fence, letting his bike fly. This was how he would stop.

He kept me on my toes, forever chasing him around, for he was always getting into something. He had to put everything in his mouth. I can remember his first trip to the beach. It lasted about 5 minutes. In that time frame he took a taste of sand, some twigs, a cigarette butt, and a dead alewife. (fish) He was good for a giggle. And so beautiful.....

More later. I love you David. The memories are so real, so sweet, and here as if they were  yesterday. I miss you so much, and cannot believe you are gone. I will speak of you and write of you, until my days are done. Thats how important you were to me, our family, and the world. The earth is a much different, much quieter, so lonesome place without you!

Speed and Alcohol Factors in Fatal Weekend Crash

TOWN OF SALEM -- The mother of a Kenosha teenager who was killed in a weekend crash speaks exclusively to CBS 58. Lisa Loring's son, 17-year-old David Loring died at the scene after he was pinned by the 1995 Honda Civic shortly after 1:00 a.m. Loring was one of five teenagers in the vehicle.

It happened in the 22100 block of Highway K in the Town of Salem early Saturday morning. Investigators say speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. The teens apparently had been drinking at one of their homes and decided to go for a ride before dropping off one of them at a residence.

Police have identified the driver as Matthew Sellers, 18. He is expected to be charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle as well as three counts of causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.

Sellers and the three other passengers were taken to local hospitals, where one remained as of Saturday afternoon. The others, including Sellers, later were transferred to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa for further treatment, said Smith.

The other passengers were Tyler Kraus, 15, Jeffery Gray, 17, and Anthony Wirtz, 19, all of Kenosha. Alcohol and speed contributed to the accident, Smith said.

"I have come to peace with Matthew," says Loring "he loved David, how could I not reach out to him, how could I not forgive him?" she said. All of the surviving victims suffered critical injuries, Sellers broke his neck. Passed away on November 03, 2007 at the age of 17.
